Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a Christ-centered, organized, and team-oriented Assistant Athletic Director to support the leadership and administration of the school’s athletic program. The Assistant Athletic Director works closely with the Athletic Director to ensure that athletic programs operate effectively, reflect the mission and values of WCA, and provide a positive experience for student-athletes, coaches, families, officials, and visiting teams.
This role assists with game-day operations, communication, facility coordination, coach support, and other administrative responsibilities that contribute to the success of the athletic department.
Position Title: Assistant Athletic Director
Location: Washtenaw Christian Academy
Schedule: Part-time (school year; evenings and weekends as needed)
Reports to: Athletic Director
Key Responsibilities
Athletic Program Administration
- Assist the Athletic Director with the day-to-day operations of the athletic department
- Help coordinate athletic schedules, practices, contests, tournaments, and special events
- Assist with registration, eligibility verification, and required athletic documentation
- Support the organization and administration of athletic department records
Game Day and Event Management
- Assist in planning and coordinating home athletic events
- Ensure facilities are prepared and equipped for practices, games, and tournaments
- Coordinate game-day logistics, including officials, scorekeepers, gate workers, and volunteers
- Serve as an on-site representative of the athletic department during assigned events
- Help maintain a positive and welcoming environment for student-athletes and spectators
Coach & Student Support
- Support coaches with communication, scheduling, equipment, and program needs
- Encourage and promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and Christ-like conduct among student-athletes
- Assist with coach onboarding, training, and compliance requirements as directed
- Build positive relationships with students and serve as a supportive presence within the athletic program
Communications & Community Relations
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, coaches, officials, and visiting schools
- Help promote athletic programs and celebrate team and individual accomplishments
- Represent the school and athletic department in a Christ-centered and professional manner
Facilities & Equipment Management
- Assist with the inventory, distribution, collection, and maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms
- Coordinate with facilities staff regarding athletic facility needs and event setup
- Help ensure athletic facilities remain safe, organized, and ready for use

- Prior experience in athletics, coaching, athletic administration, or education
- Proficiency with basic technology and organizational tools
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during practices, games, and events
- Ability to lift and move athletic equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
- Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends as required by athletic schedules
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
