Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a reliable, organized, and caring individual to serve as an Elementary Homeschool Program Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a love for God, a love for students, and a desire to help students think critically, grow academically, and develop a love for learning. A strong Christian commitment is essential.
This is a part-time position (Tuesdays and Thursdays) that follows the school calendar. This role supports our Homeschool Partnership Director in leading our Kindergarten–6th grade Homeschool Elective Day Program, which provides students with a structured day of elective classes and meaningful social interaction. The assistant will lead and supervise one group of students (either Kindergarten–2nd grade or 3rd–6th grade) throughout the school day, helping ensure smooth transitions, student safety, and a positive experience for all.
Position Title: Elementary Homeschool Day Assistant / Assistant Teacher
Location: Washtenaw Christian Academy
Schedule: Part-Time (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Reports to: Homeschool Director and Principal (for teaching responsibilities)
Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a designated group of homeschool students throughout the day
- Communicate discipline issues with the proper parties (i.e., parents, Dean of Students, Principal, teachers).
- Escort students to and from elective classes (music, gym, Bible, art, foreign language, and science)
- Provide active supervision during recess and lunch
- Assist with morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up
- Foster a positive, respectful, and engaging environment
- Help maintain organization, structure, and smooth transitions throughout the day
- Address minor behavioral or logistical issues and communicate needs to program leadership
- Substitute teaching in classes if needed
Teaching Possibilities (based on candidate qualifications)
- This position could include the opportunity to teach a class in or outside of the homeschool program that the candidate is qualified to teach.
