Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a compassionate, organized, and collaborative Student Support Services Coordinator to oversee student academic support systems, coordinate accommodations, and partner with families and staff to help meet the diverse learning needs of our students. The ideal candidate is deeply committed to supporting families, values strong communication, and is skilled at managing processes that support both academic growth and student well-being in a Christ-centered environment.

Position Title: Student Support Services Coordinator
Location: Washtenaw Christian Academy
Schedule: Full-time (aligned with school calendar)
Reports to: Principal

Responsibilities

Student Support & Case Management Duties

  • Coordinate student support services, including WCA Accommodation Plans (504-equivalent) and Non-Public Service Plans (NPSP coordination with Saline Area Schools)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for families and staff regarding academic concerns and student support processes
  • Receive, review, and respond to parent and teacher requests for student support within established timelines
  • Guide families and staff through the evaluation, eligibility, and implementation process for student support plans
  • Collect and organize teacher and parent input, academic data, and supporting documentation
  • Facilitate meetings with families, teachers, and outside service providers as needed
  • Communicate eligibility decisions, accommodation plans, and next steps clearly and professionally
  • Oversee annual reviews and updates of WCA Accommodation Plans and coordinate NPSP updates with Saline Area Schools
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained for all student support plans

Instructional Support & School Collaboration

  • Support teachers in implementing classroom accommodations and Tier 1–3 interventions (Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework)
  • Provide guidance to staff regarding appropriate accommodations vs. modifications
  • Assist teachers with identifying and responding to ongoing academic concerns
  • Support implementation of reading and math intervention programs through referrals and coordination
  • Encourage proactive communication between teachers and families regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with administration to determine when additional evaluation or outside support may be recommended

Compliance, Confidentiality & Documentation

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all student support plans and related documentation
  • Ensure secure storage and appropriate sharing of sensitive student information on a need-to-know basis
  • Communicate expectations for substitute teachers regarding student accommodations and confidentiality
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all student support processes and communications
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and alignment with the WCA Student Support Statement

Family & Communication Responsibilities

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with parents navigating academic or diagnostic concerns
  • Communicate clearly, compassionately, and consistently with families throughout the support process
  • Provide timely responses to inquiries (within established school timelines)
  • Support a collaborative partnership between home and school focused on student success
  • Assist families in understanding accommodations, modifications, and intervention pathways
Qualifications
  • Commitment to a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple student cases simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and relational)
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs in an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of accommodations, interventions, and student support systems (MTSS preferred)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, families, and outside agencies
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and emotional intelligence
  • Alignment with the mission and values of Washtenaw Christian Academy
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, School Psychology, Social Work, or related field (required)
  • Experience in student support services, intervention coordination, or case management in a school setting (preferred)
  • Familiarity with IEP/504-style processes, accommodations, and educational documentation (strongly preferred)
