Lunch Program Director

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a Lunch Program Director to lead and oversee all aspects of the school’s food service program, ensuring nutritious meals, smooth daily operations, and a welcoming dining experience for students and staff rooted in excellence, hospitality, and care.

Position Title: Lunch Program Director
Location: Washtenaw Christian Academy
Schedule:  full-time or 3/4 time (28-40 hours)
Reports to: Sarah Wilson (Finance Director)

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Menu and Lunch Room Production: Implement menus, oversee preparation and service of lunch.
  • Staff Management: Hire, train, supervise, and schedule kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Safety & Sanitation: Maintain high standards of food safety, proper storage, temperature monitoring, and general kitchen cleanliness.
  • Inventory & Ordering: Maintain inventory levels, order food and supplies, and do pickups of supplies
  • Administration: Keep accurate records of weekly food orders, , receipt tracking, spending and revenue of lunch, snacks, and events, monthly billing of families, responding to parents/staff inquiries about lunch
  • Event Management - Planning, organizing and implementing several events throughout the year including - school picnic, thanksgiving feast, field day, pastor’s breakfast and senior breakfast

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Commitment to a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Experience: Previous experience in food service management, ideally in a school or institutional setting.
  • Certification: Valid food safety and hygiene certifications- ServSafe Certified. - This can be completed after being hired. 
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with computer software (e.g., Excel), and ability to learn FACTS SIS for lunch orders, menu placement, and billing 
  • Leadership: Experience managing staff, working with school administration, and interacting with students. 

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting, moving, and carrying of items up to 50 pounds

Homeschool Elective Day Assistant

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a part-time Elementary Homeschool Day Assistant / Assistant Teacher to support the Homeschool Partnership Program by supervising students, assisting with daily structure and transitions, and helping create a safe, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment for Kindergarten–6th grade students on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Position Title: Elementary Homeschool Day Assistant / Assistant Teacher
Location: Washtenaw Christian Academy
Schedule: Part-Time (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Reports to: Homeschool Director and Principal (for teaching responsibilities)

Position Overview

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a reliable, organized, and caring individual to serve as an Elementary Homeschool Program Assistant. The ideal candidate will have a love for God, a love for students, and a desire to help students think critically, grow academically, and develop a love for learning. A strong Christian commitment is essential.

This is a part-time position (Tuesdays and Thursdays) that follows the school calendar. This role supports our Homeschool Partnership Director in leading our Kindergarten–6th grade Homeschool Elective Day Program, which provides students with a structured day of elective classes and meaningful social interaction. The assistant will lead and supervise one group of students (either Kindergarten–2nd grade or 3rd–6th grade) throughout the school day, helping ensure smooth transitions, student safety, and a positive experience for all.

Duties

  • Supervise and lead a designated group of homeschool students throughout the day
  • Communicate discipline issues with the proper parties (i.e., parents, Dean of Students, Principal, teachers). 
  • Escort students to and from elective classes (music, gym, Bible, art, foreign language, and science)
  • Provide active supervision during recess and lunch
  • Assist with morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and engaging environment
  • Help maintain organization, structure, and smooth transitions throughout the day
  • Address minor behavioral or logistical issues and communicate needs to program leadership
  • Substitute teaching in classes if needed

Teaching Possibilities (based on candidate qualifications)

  • This position could include the opportunity to teach a class in or outside of the homeschool program that the candidate is qualified to teach.

 High School Math Teacher (Part-time: Calculus)

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a part-time High School Mathematics teacher to teach Calculus three days per week. The ideal candidate will have a love for God, a love for students, and a desire to help students think critically, grow academically, and develop a love for learning. A strong Christian commitment is essential.

Instructional Duties

  • Teach Calculus three days per week
  • Provide academic support to students outside regular class time as needed
  • Adapt instruction to meet individual student learning needs
  • Develop engaging lesson plans and units aligned with course standards
  • Use effective instructional strategies to encourage active learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field required; Master's degree in Mathematics preferred

Experience & Certification

  • Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification
  • Experience teaching high school mathematics preferred
  • Math major or minor with (EX) endorsement preferred

Spanish Teacher (Full or Part-time)

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a MS/HS Spanish Teacher who excels at developing Spanish communication skills in students.  This is a part-time position unless combined with other teaching opportunities.  The ideal candidate will have a love for God, a love for children, and a desire to train students in the Spanish language. Christian commitment is a must.

Instructional Duties:

  • Teach Spanish 1-4 as needed
  • Offer academic support to students outside of class hours
  • Tailor instruction to accommodate individual student learning needs
  • Design comprehensive units and engaging lesson plans aligned to standards
  • Utilize effective instructional strategies to foster active student learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and regularly communicate progress with families
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Spanish, or a related field (Required)

Experience & Certification:

  • Must hold a valid Michigan Secondary Education Teaching Certificate or be eligible for certification.
  • Experience teaching at the high school level
  • Spanish endorsement preferred

Education that includes a Bachelor’s in Spanish Education with a state teaching certificate (FF) is preferred.

Bus Drivers

The people who fills this role will safely transport students to and from school for extracurricular activities, ensuring that each trip reflects WCA’s commitment to excellence, care, and professionalism.

The Head Coach reports to the Athletic Director.

This is a seasonal position.  The ideal candidate will have a desire to lead our student-athletes to grow in their faith in Christ, to mature in their godly character, to increase their love for the game, and to develop their skills in competition. This candidate should have a strong faith in and love for God, and a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations of the game. This candidate must be able to develop and execute practice and game plans, and must possess excellent oral and written communication skills for interactions with student-athletes, parents, officials, and others in the sporting arena.  Candidates must possess or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
