Bookkeeper

WCA is seeking a full-time Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day financial operations of the school, including (but not limited to): payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, financial statements, budgeting, donation tracking, organizing, recording, reconciling and other accounting functions as needed.  This position reports to the Finance Director and also works with the finance committee and School Board to maintain a financial budget and reporting system.  The preferred candidate will have prior accounting experience, be proficient in QuickBooks, be attentive to detail and confidentiality, and have a strong work ethic. This position is full-time, year-round position. Summer hours are reduced to M-Th 9-2.

As with all positions at WCA, a love for the Lord, a commitment to Christ, and agreement with our statement of faith are required.

Middle and High School Principal

The MS/HS Principal position is a full time, year round position that reports to the Head of School. As the MS/HS Principal this position is responsible for supervising the academic, student, and teacher programs for grades 7-12. This position works closely with the Elementary Principal in order to oversee the curriculum program of grades K-12.
 

Key aspects of this position include
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of faculty with experience and strengths that allow them to be excellent in their assigned roles. 
  • Provide strong, consistent leadership for faculty and other staff personnel
  • Ensure effective classroom instruction and management 
  • Challenge, inspire and grow faculty to fulfill WCA expectations
  • Evaluate faculty regularly in order to manage professional efficiency and consistency
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, faculty and administration
  • Oversee student discipline for MS/HS and provide appropriate discipline that encourages students to make wise decisions
  • Ensure the accurate development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Ensure that biblical integration takes place throughout the curriculum
  • Ensure that the school meets and/or exceeds the standards set by CSI and the State of Michigan
  • Participate in the Accreditation process as assigned
  • Manage the upper school budget effectively
  • Create the HS/MS class schedule with the support of the HOS
  • Guide teachers and students to use technology to maximize learning
  • Support with interviewing, admitting and retaining students who are a good fit according to admissions policies
  • Promote a safe and secure learning environment for all students
  • Provide appropriate discipline that encourages students to make wise decisions
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Full agreement and support of WCA’s statement of faith
  • A committed Christian and active member of a local, gospel preaching, Bible-believing church that aligns with our Statement of Faith
  • Bachelor’s degree in education  with classroom teaching experience
  • Master’s degree or significant coursework and experience in education administration
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional leadership
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Strong interpersonal relationships and people skills
  • Willing to pursue additional training and career development as necessary
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills
  • Display excellence in organization and communication skills

Spanish Teacher

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a MS/HS Spanish Teacher who excels at developing Spanish communication skills in students.  This is a part-time position unless combined with other teaching opportunities.  The ideal candidate will have a love for God, a love for children, and a desire to train students in the Spanish language. Christian commitment is a must.

Instructional Duties:

  • Teach Spanish 1-4 as needed
  • Offer academic support to students outside of class hours
  • Tailor instruction to accommodate individual student learning needs
  • Design comprehensive units and engaging lesson plans aligned to standards
  • Utilize effective instructional strategies to foster active student learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and regularly communicate progress with families
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Deep understanding of effective teaching practices
  • Ability to develop curriculum aligned with standardized testing standards
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and excellent organizational abilities
  • Proficient in using technology
  • Commitment to a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
     

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Spanish, or a related field (Required)

Experience & Certification:

  • Must hold a valid Michigan Secondary Education Teaching Certificate or be eligible for certification.
  • Experience teaching at the high school level
  • Math Major or Minor Spanish endorsement preferred.

Education that includes a Bachelor’s in Spanish Education with a state teaching certificate (FF) is preferred.

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a MS/HS Art Teacher who excels at teaching art.  This is a part-time position with the potential for full time.  The ideal candidate will have a love for God, a love for children, and a desire to nurture your skilled passion for art into the lives of children. Education that includes a Bachelor’s in Art Education with a state teaching certificate is preferred. Office Manager

WCA is looking for a qualified individual to fill the position of Front Office Manager. This is a year-round position. The person who fills this position is the main point of contact for parents, students, and faculty who visit the main office. As such, the ideal candidate would have a cheerful spirit, be patient, and seek to encourage a positive atmosphere. We are seeking candidates who possess the ability to multi-task, give attention to detail, learn quickly, and be self-motivated. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Google Docs is expected. Facilities Manager

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a Facilities Manager to manage and support all work related to the maintenance of school facilities, including (but not limited to): overseeing the facilities and custodial staff and contractors, facility rentals, event setup, facility repairs, contractor oversight, and other maintenance functions as needed. 
This position reports to the Head of School, and works with the Bookkeeper and School Board to maintain a financial budget and list of major improvement needs.  The preferred candidate will have prior facility management experience, a demonstrated ability to identity and resolve problems, and an ability work independently as well as collaboratively.  In addition, the Maintenance Technician will consistently demonstrate organizational skill, attention to detail, an ability to make decisions in a timely manner, and a strong work ethic and a love for the Lord. As with every role at WCA, the facilities manager is responsible for supporting the Vision and Mission of WCA through their interactions with students, families, faculty and staff. 

 Upper School Math Teacher

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a Full or Part-Time Upper School Mathematics teacher with strong curriculum knowledge in HS math subjects. The ideal candidate will have a love for God, a love for students, and a desire to train students to love learning and to think critically. Christian commitment is a must.

Position Overview:
This role involves teaching responsibilities in AP Calculus, Pre-Calculus, and Geometry. The primary objective is to guide students toward mastery of the subject content and support their academic success.

Music Teacher

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a  K-12 Music who excels at teaching music to K-12 students. This may be a part-time or full-time position.  The ideal candidate will have a love for God, a love for children and a desire to nurture your skilled passion for music into the lives of children.

Head Coach Opportunities

Washtenaw Christian Academy is seeking a Head Coach for the following sports:  7th/8th Cheerleading & Varsity Baseball.  The Head Coach reports to the Athletic Director.

This is a seasonal position.  The ideal candidate will have a desire to lead our student-athletes to grow in their faith in Christ, to mature in their godly character, to increase their love for the game, and to develop their skills in competition. This candidate should have a strong faith in and love for God, and a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations of the game. This candidate must be able to develop and execute practice and game plans, and must possess excellent oral and written communication skills for interactions with student-athletes, parents, officials, and others in the sporting arena.  Candidates must possess or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
