Family Service Program
There are so many ways for families to get involved and make a difference at WCA! Family service hours lend support to our amazing faculty and staff and enable them to keep their focus on the quality of our educational program. Volunteering also gives your family a way to become more fully connected to the school community and keeps tuition increases to a minimum.
Since involvement is so vital to our school, each family at WCA is required to participate in the Family Service Program. Hours will be tracked and at the end of the year, a $15 fee will be charged for each hour not completed. Each school year, the service hour program will begin on the first day of summer and end on the last day of school. Any hours not served by the end of the school year will be charged to your FACTS account. If you would prefer to pay your hours upfront because you will be unable to serve in any capacity, please fill out this form.
Each family of K-12th graders is asked to contribute a minimum of:
-20 hours of service for a 2-parent family of full-time student(s)
-10 hours of service for a 1-parent family of full-time student(s)
-5 hours of service for a family of part-time student(s) .
- Coaches, Board Members, WCA Host Families, and faculty and staff who have students enrolled are considered to have fulfilled their hours.
- Parents, guardians, students, grandparents, or family members are eligible to perform service hours. (Any service hours required by students e.g. NHS cannot count towards family service hours.)

When families volunteer, we want them to have clear instructions on what each role requires in advance. After signing up CLICK HERE for a description of roles and responsibilities.
The following are approved Family Service Hours:
- Anything that is listed in the volunteer Sign Up Genius or highlighted in the Family Service Hours weekly update
- Athletic concessions, admissions, scorekeeping, etc. count towards service hours.
- Up to 50% of your service hours may be used for school-related field trips and overnight trips.
- Classroom activities per the request of teachers.
- Any WCA committee or support group.
- Office/building support.

PLEASE NOTE: In addition to signing up for opportunities through the Sign Up Genius, you are still required to log hours served in the FACTS portal to receive credit for your service. Service hours are required to be logged within two weeks of serving and final service hours must be logged by June 14th.
How to submit your Family Service Hours into FACTS
1. Log into your FACTS account with your username and password and click “Family Log In” in the upper right corner and choose “Facts Family Portal” on the dropdown menu. Our District Code is: WCA-MI. If you have problems accessing your portal contact Deb Hazey at dhazey@washtenawchristian.org.
2. Click on "FAMILY" on the main page menu.
3. On the "Family" page, you will see a "Service Hours" section.
4. To add service hours click the "add+" button in the upper right corner of the "Service Hours" section.
5. After you select "add+", enter the date, hours, and description. If you don't see a category that fits your service in the description box, choose "other" and describe it in the "Note" section.
6. In the "Verified By" box, list the WCA staff member responsible for your service. This is the person who will review and verify your hours.
7. Click "Save" to submit.
8. On the "Family" page you can also view the total number of service hours completed. Please note: 2-parent families will serve a COMBINED total of 20 hours. In order to view each parent's total hours on FACTS, you will need to change the first name in the drop-down menu.
